A flip chart covered with colorful post-its might look like a typical scene at team retreats, but the impact of what's written on those notes can be transformative for teams. I always start retreats with new client teams by asking one pivotal question: "What is your desired result for the retreat?" This question does more than just set the tone; it digs into the fundamental needs of the team—to deepen connections among members.
At a recent retreat, this question led to a flip chart plastered with over 50 post-its, a majority echoing the universal desire for stronger connections. But what do we mean by "stronger connections"? It's not just about fostering better social interactions; it's about cultivating relationships where team members have and use the tools necessary to resolve differences effectively. This approach leads to a deeper understanding of how to address the needs and concerns of each individual, reinforcing the foundation of a truly cohesive team.
This insight drove the creation of the Cohesive Team Deck, designed to facilitate these crucial connections and simplify the dynamics at play. By equipping teams with the tools to build and maintain strong relationships, we set the stage for lasting success beyond the retreat. So, what’s your desired result for your team’s next retreat?
